Use this capacitor code calculator to find the value of a capacitor from the code printed on it, or to find the code for a value.

Small capacitors are too small to have their value printed on them, so they get a code. The most common one has three digits. The first two are the value, and the third is how many zeros to add. The result is in picofarads:

Code to value

Picofarad (pF)
-
Nanofarad (nF)
-
Microfarad (µF)
-
Tolerance
-

Value to code

Code
-
104

Other Markings

A letter after the code is the tolerance. For example, J means ±5% and K means ±10%.

Some capacitors use a letter as the decimal point instead: 4n7 is 4.7 nF and 2u2 is 2.2 µF. Older capacitors often show their value in microfarads, like 0.1 for 0.1 µF. The calculator understands all of these.
